Eugene S. Boettler III, of St. Charles, MO, passed away Sunday, October 24, 2021, at the age of 83. Beloved husband of Catherine Boettler; cherished son of the late Verna M. and Eugene S. Boettler, Jr.; devoted father of Lynn (Laura) Boettler, Ellen (John) Bornhop, and Karen Boettler; loving grandfather of Jacob (Christa) Bornhop, Luke (Allison) Bornhop, Lily Bornhop, Hunter Bornhop, Caleb Heilmann, Claire Heilmann, Riley Boettler, and River Boettler; treasured great-grandfather of Piper Bornhop; dear brother of the late Thomas “Gary” Boettler, the late James “Jim” Boettler, and the late Don Boettler. Eugene proudly served in the Missouri Army National Guard and Missouri Air National Guard. He was a charter member of St. Robert Bellarmine Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 823 for over 60 years. Gene was creative and artistic. For many years he ran his own painting business, and in his younger years, he designed and produced original marquees for local businesses. Later in life he channeled those talents into small woodworking projects, leather creations, and other crafty productions, including embroidered ornaments and key chains for his grandchildren. One of Gene and his wife's greatest achievements was the beloved family Christmas tree farm, Bluebird Pines. Though no longer active, "the farm,” has become a place of pride and a solace-offering retreat to nature, enjoyed by the whole family. Always a kind and humble person, it is no surprise that Gene received the David A. Gee Award for Meritorious Service from Barnes-Jewish-Christian Hospital. Eugene was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Memorials may be made in Eugene's name to St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Robert Church.Baue Funeral Homes is currently following CDC recommendations regarding mask and social distancing policies.
