Eugene V. “Gene” Renaud

Eugene V. “Gene” Renaud, of Hazelwood, Missouri, passed away Saturday, November 20, 2021 at the age of 85. Loving husband of 61 years to Phyllis Renaud (nee Dollar); beloved son of the late Agnes and Vincent Renaud; devoted father of Bradley (Janet) Renaud, Mary Renaud, Joseph (Lisa) Renaud, Aimee Renaud, and Clifford (Sheri) Renaud; cherished grandfather of Tara Renaud, Erin (Chuck) Shadow, Sarah (Chris) Schmitt, Joe (Mercy) Renaud, Tyler Renaud, Kyle Renaud, Andrew Renaud, Dan Robinson, and the late Kyle Robinson; great grandfather of Evan Maysent, Joe Renaud, Christian Renaud, Jacob Renaud, Azalea Schmitt, and Ada Schmitt; dear brother of Annie (the late Eddie) Smith, Robert (the late Nancy) Renaud, Paul (the late Mary Ellen) Renaud, Wilma (Bill) Zurweller, Alice (the late Lester) Haub, Albert (Mary) Renaud, and Sheree (Guy) Leamon. Gene proudly and honorably served in the United States Marine Corps from 1956 – 1958. He met the love of his life Phyllis at a high school dance. They married following Gene’s service in the Marine Corps. He worked as a supervisor for Union Electric/Ameren UE and retired after more than 32 years. Gene was a lifelong member of St. Martin de Porres Church and had a strong faith in God. He was very involved in serving Mass, training altar boys, volunteering with the church picnics, assisting during funerals, and helping wherever needed. He was known to bring donuts to Phyllis and the quilters. He was always thinking of others and would do lunch & recess duty at St. Martin De Porres School. Gene was an avid fan of sports and enjoyed the years he watched his sons and grandsons play sports. He was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals & the Blues, and going bowling on Sunday nights with Phyllis. He and his wife liked watching the US Open, and in their younger years loved playing tennis together. Gene truly loved the outdoors, and he enjoyed trout fishing, deer and rabbit hunting, and spending time at their lake house. He looked forward to family camping trips on the weekends to the Missouri State parks. He loved living life to the fullest and spending time with his family. Gene was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Memorials may be made in Eugene's name to Alzheimer's Association.
