Evelyn M. Hooker

Evelyn M. Hooker (nee Glastetter), of O’Fallon, Missouri, passed away Thursday, September 1, 2022, at the age of 101.  Loving wife of 76 years to the late John W. Hooker Sr.; beloved daughter of the late Frank and Clara Glastetter; devoted mother of John W. (Judith) Hooker Jr., Ronald J. (Barbara) Hooker, James E. (Paula) Hooker, and the late Richard A. Hooker; cherished grandmother of 8, great-grandmother of 25, and great-great-grandmother of 3; dear mother-in-law of Jan Hooker; treasured sister of Virginia Uptain.  She was also preceded in death by her five brothers and her three sisters.  

Evelyn was a woman of faith and a proud member of Assumption of the Holy Virgin Mary Catholic Church in O’Fallon, Missouri.  She was a homemaker all of her life, and her family was most important to her and very dear to her heart.  Evelyn loved being in the kitchen, baking or cooking something for everyone to enjoy.  She always had a meal for you when you walked in the door, and you never went away hungry.   

Evelyn was also a big fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and enjoyed watching the games with her husband.  She and John loved to travel in their RV with their family and friends.  They ventured to sites all across the United States, and especially loved visiting Colorado.  Upon retirement, they enjoyed square dancing and bluegrass music. 

Even at 99 years old, Evelyn was an independent, do-it-yourself lady, and she utilized online banking, shopping, and commenting on Facebook regularly.  Evelyn was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.  

Memorial contributions may be made in Evelyn's name to American Cancer Society or Masses.
