Florence Anna Kempf

Florence Anna Kempf (nee Brinkman) of O’Fallon, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, at the age of 91. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Donna Kempf of O’Fallon and son, Glenn Kempf (Lisa) of Sammamish, WA; grandchildren McKinley, Landry and Sorin Kempf; granddogs Brownie, Benny, Arthur, Lola and Rainier; sister-in-law Jane Brinkmann; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Martin and Frieda (Miesner) Brinkman; husbands Gustave Hudak and Edward Kempf; and brother, Martin Brinkmann Jr (Helen). 

Florence was born and raised in New York.  She began her career as a Legal Secretary and retired as a Secretary to a New York State Supreme Court Justice.  After retiring to Florida with Edward, she enjoyed bowling and travelling to see her children and grandchildren.  In 2005, she relocated to O’Fallon to live with her daughter. Florence was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in O’Fallon and served in the Holy Cross Ladies Guild.

Florence enjoyed playing cards on Mondays at Betty’s house, weekly hair appointments with Luanne, watching Hallmark movies, Game Show Network and Notre Dame football, and playing with her granddogs.  Most recently, she enjoyed spending quality time with her children and grandchildren while residing at The Cottages of Lake St. Louis to recover from a broken ankle.  The family extends their sincerest thanks to the Cottages’ staff for their excellent care and assistance during that time. 

A Celebration of Life service will be conducted on February 14th at 2:00pm at the Baue O’Fallon Chapel.  Following cremation, Florence will be buried with Gus in Long Island National Cemetery.
