Martinez, Francisco "Frank" F., age 83, passed away Saturday, February 25, 2012. He was born on August 21, 1928 in Peoria, Arizona. Frank served his country from 1945-1968 in the United States Marine Corp as a Three War veteran (Korea, Vietnam and World War II) retiring as a Master Sergeant. Frank owned and operated businesses for 28 years, first Overland Aviation and later Something Special. Frank's primary concern was caring for children in his community. He did this through his many hours of volunteer work in the St. Charles Community. Frank was especially passionate about Youth in Need, Community and Children's Resource Board of St. Charles County, St. Charles Community Council, Head Start/Early Head Start, St. Charles Foster/Adopt Association, American Legion St. Charles County, served as the Chairperson for the Missouri Trust Fund (Prevention of Child Abuse License Plates) and countless others. Frank continued to serve to his country as n active member in the Marine Corps League, St. Charles Detachment 725 and St. Peters Veteran's Commission. He was also an active member at Church of the Shepherd. Beloved husband of Charline (Tolin) for 58 years and devoted father of Steven F. Martinez, Patricia D. Dietrich, and Linda C. Newberry as well as eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Surviving also is one sister, Josie and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by brothers Tony (Antonio), Joe and his sister Mary.
Frank once said he had a wonderful life helping people and his biggest reward was knowing in his heart that he made a difference in a life. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Youth in Need Frank F. Martinez Assistance Educational Fund.
