Lipski, Frank A., of Wentzville, MO, died on Saturday, November 28, 2015, at the age of 69. Loving husband of 42 years to Carolyn E. Lipski (nee: Thies); beloved son of the late Frank and Leopolda Lipski; devoted father of Matthew (Carolyn Ward) Lipski and Mark (Marie Pavlich) Lipski; cherished grandfather of Rebekah, Cecilia, and Ryan Lipski; treasured brother of John (Joan) Lipski, Mary (Tom) Hennessy, Edmund (the late Cathy) Lipski, Hedy Getz, and Stella (Ron) Lundry; dear brother-in-law of Janice (Stephen) Fettig and Marilyn (Thomas) Neis; and survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.Frank was born in the city of Isny, Germany and immigrated to the United States directly into St.Louis along with his parents and four siblings in August, 1950, when he was 4 years old. After World War II, the Vatterott family sponsored the family’s move to live and work in the United States. They lived in St. Ann, MO where he made many life-long friends, several of them through his involvement in soccer. He graduated from Mercy High School in 1964 and attended Rockhurst College in Kansas City, MO where he was part of the soccer team. After a couple years in KC, MO, he transferred to & graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Missouri, St. Louis. After graduating from college, he served as an Army medic (stateside) during the Vietnam War from 1969 to 1971, then became a naturalized US citizen in 1972.
Frank & Carolyn met in 1971 while he was still serving, saving his quarters to call her while away on duty. After his discharge from the service and a brief courtship, they married in 1973 and enjoyed 42 wonderful years together. Frank spent the majority of his working career as an Internal Revenue Officer for the US Government compiling 32 years of service and enjoyed regaling his family with stories of the interesting cases and investigations he experienced. He was an active member of Immanuel United Church of Christ of Ferguson, MO where he sang in the choir, served as a council member, was on the investment committee, & served in various capacities in countless Wurstmarkts.
In his younger days, Frank continued to enjoy playing soccer leisurely with friends, coaching his sons' soccer team, as well as bowling in various leagues. Over the years, his passion became golf, either playing himself, teaching his boys, or sharing a tip with a friend. Frank loved reading and couldn't let a day pass without reading the local newspaper from front to back. Attending the many sporting activities of his grandchildren filled his time as well. If given an opportunity, Frank loved to dance (both to polkas & Glenn Miller's 'In The Mood') as well as telling great stories & 'moaner' jokes.
Frank was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma (a type of blood cancer) in early 2000, after having some back pain. Treatment plans were explained and ready to begin in the spring of 2000 & all Frank requested of the physicians was to get him to see his first grandchild born in August. He was able to fight through 2 bone marrow transplants, numerous rounds of chemo treatments & radiation and survived nearly 16 years, allowing him to see Mark & Marie's wedding, the birth of three grandchildren (the oldest is now 15), as as well retirement (more golf!) & some traveling. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (themmrf.org), American Cancer Society, or Immanuel United Church of Christ in Ferguson, MO.
