Frederick Charles Figge, of Elsberry, MO, passed away Sunday, August 13, 2023, at the age of 89. Born March 18, 1934, in New York City, New York, he was the son of Frederick Conrad Figge and Harriett McKenzie. He was married on May 21, 1961, to Annabelle L. Harnett, in Kansas City, Kansas and to this union three children were born.
He was known to his friends as “Fig.” He enlisted in the United States Air Force and served during the Korean War as an aviation mechanic/crew chief. He was also a member of the Air Force Reserve and the Air National Guard for many years. He did work as a carpenter and an aircraft mechanic. He worked for the Department of the Air Force and the Department of the Army as an Aircraft Equipment Specialist for 32 years, at which time he retired in 1988. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #236, Harvester Lions Club-Charter Member, AMVETS Post #106, American Legion Post #226 and VFW Post #14000.
Survivors include his two daughters, Deanna (Tony) Tettaton of Cedar Hill, MO, Janis (JR) Gowen of O’Fallon, MO, son, Michael Figge of St. Peters, MO, and four grandchildren, Nathan Gowen, Alex Gowen, Andrea Gowen, and Derek Tettaton. He was preceded in death by his parents. Fred was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Memorials may be made in his name to the Salvation Army or Harvester Lions Club.
