Frederick J. Richterkessing was called to his heavenly home on Saturday, October 6, 2018, at the age of 86. Loving husband for 60+ years of Lois Hollrah Richterkessing; beloved son of the late Ralph and Ella Richterkessing; devoted father of Kay (Fred) Wasden, Joy (Michael) Perrie, and Tim (Laurie) Richterkessing; cherished grandfather of Emily and Paul Cherry, Kate and Ben Wasden, and Emma, Eva, and Luke Richterkessing; dear brother of Carol (Art) Goodall, Pearl (Marvin) Plamann, and David (Suzanne) Richterkessing. He was preceded in death by his baby brother Ronald.
Fred was born on October 17, 1931, in St. Charles. After serving two years in the military, Fred married and began a career at McDonnell Douglas where he was proud to have been a part of a number of NASA Space Launches, and later worked in laser technology. Fred was known for his dry wit and sharp intellect. He was active in church service his entire life. He was a lifelong Cardinals fan, an artist and wood carver; he enjoyed bridge, travel, bowling, skiing, golfing, fishing, gardening, and working on the farm he loved. His most cherished moments were spending time with his beloved wife, children, grandchildren, relatives, and friends.
