Gail “Gene” Shirk

Shirk, Gail “Gene” of Saint Charles, MO, died on Sunday, January 3, 2016, at the age of 82. Beloved husband of Vonda Lee Shirk; cherished son of the late Don and Margot Shirk; devoted father of Mitch (Sharon) Shirk, Stephen (Denita) Shirk, David (Debbie) Shirk, Marla (Richard) Gasmann, and Shelley (Charles) Hayden; loving grandfather of Kyle (Amanda) Williams, Chelsea Shirk, Stephen “Miles” (Marcy) Shirk, Carrie (Derik) Vaughn, Tiffinie Domer, Stacy (Reginald) Daniels, Shonda Gasmann, and Justin Gasmann; and treasured great-grandfather of eight.

Gene was preceded in death by his siblings: Arlene Miller, Floyd Shirk, and Erlys Wenslick.

Gene was employed by the Boy Scouts of America for 25 years and the Ritenour School District for 10 years. He was a member of the VFW and Kiwanis. In his spare time, Gene enjoyed camping, canoeing, coin collecting, music, and swimming. Most of all, Gene loved spending time with his family. He was a great man and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
