Gail Ann Starke (nee Mersch), of Foristell, MO, passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at the age of 83. Beloved wife of Kenneth Herbert Starke; cherished daughter of the late John Mersch; loving aunt of Michelle, Susie, Tommy, and the late David along with numerous other nieces and nephews; and dear stepsister of the late Jackie King and Robert Mersch.
Gail was a member of the Eastern Star. She spent much of her life as an Avon sales consultant and worked as a real estate agent. Gail was always bubbly and outgoing; she was a social butterfly and could befriend anyone she met. She also had a huge heart and a special place for animals. She was known to rescue and care for animals that needed love. Gail enjoyed playing cards and loved to read mystery novels. She would often go antiquing and browsing through secondhand stores. Gail had a creative nature and loved creating and painting ceramics. Another favorite hobby was entering sweepstakes. Among the numerous prizes she won was a Cadillac and a 1-carat diamond ring.
Ken and Gail met while she was working at a music store. Ken, being a musician, would frequent the music store and it was love at first sight. She was the business manager for Ken's band "Ken Starke and the Moonlight Serenaders.” She and Ken did everything together, they bought 15 acres after they married and got to work on their homestead. She worked alongside Ken clearing the property, building a house, and making it a home.
Gail was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Memorials may be made in Gail's name to The St. Charles Humane Society.
