Gale was born in Crookston, MN and later met his beloved wife, Karen, in South Milwaukee when they were teenagers. Later, he moved to Chicago and then St. Louis with Trans World Airlines as an aircraft mechanic – his first job after college.
Aviation was one of Gale’s greatest loves in life and he truly loved everything about planes. Over the course of his life, he owned seven airplanes and even built two himself. He was active in the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Chapters 32 & 1387 where he found friends and fellow enthusiasts. Another one of Gale’s passions was for automobiles and he was proud of his dream car – a bright red, 1989 Jaguar convertible. Gale was a great handyman who built one family home from the ground up and finished two other homes.
Gale was fond of music as well. He was talented with the bass guitar, played the accordion when he was young, and recently learned the organ where he’d play for hours at a time. Gale was an active member of Harvester Christian Church for over 25 years and volunteered on the Safety and Security Team. He traveled around the country in the family RV and cherished the memories made on their trips.
