Smith, Gary E., St. Charles, MO died on January 8, 2021. He was born on January 18, 1940 to Edward and Mabel (Nee: Talleur) Smith. Loving husband of Jane (Borgmeyer) Smith for 59 years. He was the devoted father of Debra (Frank) Schimonitz and Dave (Donna) Smith. Cherished grandfather of Christina (Kevin) Reilly and Robert (Kristy) Pedroli, Great Grandfather of Shea (Hunter) Newton and Matthew Pedroli. Dear brother of Sandra (Richard) Garrett. He is also survived also by and sisters-in-law: Laverne (Charlie) Mennemeir, Betty (the late Gerald) Flick, Marge (Don) Blevins, and Mary (Bill) Hembrock, numerous nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. He will also be missed by his kitty, Pooh who was always by his side.

Gary was preceded in death by parents and parents-in-law, Ralph & Melvina Borgmeyer; siblings-in-law: Bill Borgmeyer, Don (Joan) Brogmeyer, and Ruth Borgmeyer.

Gary was a member of LPIU union while working at Universal Match Corp. for twenty-four years. He worked for RX Systems from which he retired in 2002. Gary loved fishing, hunting, photography, and toy trains but his passion was working on cars no matter who was the owner. He was a self-taught mechanic. Gary was also a member of a Corvette Club. Gary enjoyed boating, especially at Lake of the Ozarks, during the week away from the crowds. He also loved to travel with his wife Jane to New Jersey and Las Vegas, among other places. He played Mickey Mouse at Christmas at St. Johns Mercy and their Senior Center visiting the patients and trying to raise their spirits. He loved seeing their smiling faces. He was devout Catholic a longtime usher at St. Peter Catholic Church in St. Charles as well as member of St. Vincent DePaul Society. Gary was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter Catholic Church or the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation).
