Gary Oliver Pohlman

Gary Oliver Pohlman, 46, of O’Fallon, Mo, was granted his angel wings on February 21, 2020.
He was born on May 28th, 1973 in Florissant, Mo. to Gary M. Pohlman and Karen Pohlman.
He attended Hazelwood Central High School and continued his education at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. Gary was an educator and coach at DeSoto High School, Hazelwood Central High School, and Fort Zumwalt South High School. He later became an Assistant Principal at Fort Zumwalt North High School in O’Fallon, Missouri.
Gary loved going to opening day for the St. Louis Cardinals, watching the Memphis Grizzlies, and listening to all types of music, especially, the Blues.
Most importantly Gary shared a beautiful bond with his wife, Christy, and his sons Alex and Jack. Gary and Christy were married in 1999 and cherished their time together. Gary loved attending Alex's plays and choir concerts at Fort Zumwalt North and Jack's baseball and football games. Although he certainly was proud of their many talents, he was more concerned with teaching them life lessons and being the best dad he could be to them. Gary, Christy, and the boys enjoyed their time traveling and spending time together. There was much love and laughter shared.
Gary was blessed with an army of friends and family that he cared for deeply. During the last few years fighting cancer, he became aware of just how loved he was. In this sense, he felt his fight was a gift from God.
Gary was survived by his loving wife, Christy; his sons, Alex and Jack; his loving parents Gary M. and Karen Pohlman; his brother Curt Pohlman (Melissa); and his sister Diane Jessen(Grant); Gary was also a loving son-in-law, brother-in-law, uncle, cousin, and nephew to a wonderful family.
Per Gary's request, there will be no formal funeral service. At a later date, the family will hold a celebration of Gary's life. There will be laughter, music, and memories shared.
