Gary V. Schubel

December 15, 1948 — November 18, 2022

Dittmer, Missouri

Gary Vernon Schubel, of Dittmer, MO, passed away Friday, November 18, 2022, at the age of 73. Beloved husband of Brenda Joyce Schubel; devoted son of the late Vernon and Viola Schubel; loving father of Kevin G. (Katie) Schubel; cherished grandfather of Karsyn J. Schubel; dear brother of Faye Neuner and brother-in-law of Clifford (Diane) King and Daryl (Julie) King; precious uncle of Theresa Uthe, Cherie Jones, Jeffrey Beckmann, Angie Stewart, Beth Deppe, Jeff King, Tiffany Curio, Randi Twehous.

Gary was a man of few words, but when he spoke, you listened. He was respected by his family and friends for his vast knowledge, reliable nature and trusted presence. A tried-and-true friend to the core. His strong work ethic echoed not only in his career but even in his hobbies. His hobbies and work life always aligned because it was generally centered around operating equipment and trucking. That vast knowledge he acquired was helpful in all his career paths -- turning wrenches at Cedar Hill Garage, heavy machinery for Norman Goad Construction, highway repairs with MODot and it didn't stop there. When he retired just over 20 years ago, he found himself working alongside his son. Together, they were trucking for Dunnigan Truck Line and then hauling for DM Trucking. In addition, they spent every summer bailing hay in the fields, a little side career they embarked on together. One thing has remained constant, the friendships built along the way in his careers and hobbies only grew stronger and stronger. He loved the outdoors, spending much of his time casting a fishing pole at Truman Lake or patiently waiting in his deer stand at the farm in Harris, Missouri. By his side through it all was his wife, Brenda. Married 52 years, they built quite a life and created so many memories together with family and friends.

Gary was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Memorials may be made in Gary's name to Jefferson County Cattlemen's Association - P.O. Box 2505 Hillsboro, MO 63050.
