Genevieve M. Powell (nee Williams), of Chesterfield, MO, passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2019 at the age of 92. Beloved daughter of the late Charlie N. Williams and Valeria G. Coon; devoted mother of Roy Powell, Linda (Wayne) Hesser, and Darla Powell; cherished grandmother of Holly (Joe) Hueser and Angelyn Hesser; treasured great-grandmother of Alexis and Evan.
Genevieve was a member of the YMCA Jogging Club and ran 6 miles a day, well into her seventies. She enjoyed decorating, flower arranging and making people happy. Described as humble, brave, strong and wise, Genevieve was an avid reader and was interested in most everything.
Always thinking of others, Genevieve prepared “Sunday” dinner for her family each night and expressed her love through her great cooking. Her greatest desire in life was to see everyone happy and well-fed. She loved and valued her family above all else, willing to do anything for them, while asking very little for herself.
Making life fun no matter what, Genevieve’s motto was, “Go with the flow and everything for the good of the family.”
Leaving school at the age of 16, Genevieve’s daughter stated she was the wisest woman she ever knew. “She taught me to read ‘See Dick Run’ and ‘Run Dick Run,’ thanks mom.”
Genevieve was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Memorials may be made in Genevieve's name to the
Emmaus Home.
