Gillette passed away at the age of 86 on September 11, 2009, preceded in death by his loving wife Caroline (Levy) of Brooklyn, New York. He served in the Army Air Force in World War II for 36 months and returned to complete his study for his career in education. He is survived by his brothers Leland (Dorothy) Gillette of St. Charles, MO and Marshall (Jean) Gillette of Newport, RI and sister Joan (Robert Silverberg) (Dallas) Barteau of Troy, MO. Mr. Gillette is also survived by numbers of nieces and nephews and their families. He is preceded in death by his parents Frank and Gladys (nee: Rather) Gillette; brothers, Jim of St. Charles and Motie of Orifino, Idaho, and sisters, Irene Blackhurst of St. Charles, and Mary Lou Powers of Indianapolis, Indiana. During his lifetime, Mr. Gillette attended Washington University in St. Louis, MO, C.W. Post College of Long Island University in New York, NY and University of Missouri – Columbia, where he earned graduate degrees preparing for his life's work in teaching, administration and counseling. He taught at Central School in O'Fallon, MO, Centralia High School in Centralia, MO and in Weldon Springs, MO, where he helped to establish and teach in Howell Junior High School. He also served as principal at Wellsville High School in Wellsville, MO and completed his career in guidance in the Port Washington, New York secondary schools. Mr. Gillette and his wife returned to St. Charles in 1984 where he spent his retirement. He was a member of the St. Charles Presbyterian Church, where he served as both Deacon and Elder.
