George J. Ockuly, of Saint Charles, MO, passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at the age of 84. Loving husband of Sandra Braun Ockuly; beloved son of the late Lawrence and Elsie Ockuly; devoted father of Jacqueline (Richard) McCartney, Deborah (Brett) Woltjen, Pamela (Steven) Jackson, the late Kristine Ockuly, and Kathleen (Raymond) Palmer; cherished grandfather of Andrew McCartney, Megan McCartney, Kelly (David) Webster (nee Woltjen), Courtney (Paul) Azzi (nee Woltjen), Stephanie (Jeffrey) Wheeless (nee: Jackson), Danielle Jackson, Rebecca Jackson, Kyle Jackson, Ryan Palmer, and Adam Palmer; treasured great-grandfather of Graham Webster and Catherine Wheeless; dear sister of Eileen (Richard) Amato; beloved uncle, cousin, and friend.
George proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He was a member of the National Fire Protection Association Board of Directors, where he served as Chairman, and was an active member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Dardenne Prairie, MO. Additionally, he contributed to the National Electrical Code Panels 10 & 11, served as Vice President of the U.S. National Committee of the International Electrotechnical Commission, and was a technical advisor for UNSC IEC C32B Low Voltage Fuses. George was a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, a member of the Electronic Industries Alliance, and an associate member of the International Association of Electrical Inspectors. He received the NEMA Kite and Key award, recognizing his contributions to advancing the electrical industry through active and sustained involvement in the association. George worked for Bussmann as Vice President of Sales, retiring after 28 years of dedicated service.
A devout Catholic, George became a mentor in the Criminal Justice Ministry after his retirement. He will always be remembered as a loving and kind person. George was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Memorials may be made in George's name to Tunnel to Towers.
