George Scherer

George Scherer, of Owensville, MO, formerly of St. Charles, MO, passed away Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at the age of 76. Beloved husband of 53 years to Joan Scherer; cherished son of the late Anne Scherer and George F. Scherer, II; devoted father of Bethany (Matthew) Daniels and Chris (Michelle) Scherer; loving grandfather of Aiden Christopher, Evangeline Michelle, and Annabella Rose; dear brother of Gary Scherer, Steven W. (Mary) Scherer, and Deborah Scherer; many nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and friends.

George was a faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran for over 30 years. He worked for McCarthy Building Company as a CFO for more than 25 years, retiring in 2008. George loved spending time in the great outdoors. He loved anything you can do outside, especially fishing. Whether it was at their lake farm or Alaska, George always enjoyed wetting a line. George loved working on the farm where he took care of the goats and the grounds. The farm was a wonderful place of respite for George.

George greatly enjoyed traveling with his family. They would frequently visit their home in Colorado and go all around the state. When George was younger, they spent three years in Kuwait. This allowed George and his family to travel all through Europe. The light of George’s life was his three grandchildren. George was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Memorials may be made in George's name to Immanuel Lutheran Church, American Cancer Society or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
