Gerald “Jerry” B. Schoenherr, 84, of O’Fallon, Missouri passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving wife, JoAnn, and children on December 8, 2020.
Jerry was born on May 20, 1936 in East Saint Louis, Illinois. He was married to JoAnn Schoenherr (nee Orlet) for 60 years.
Jerry proudly served in the U.S. Army Reserves. He retired from George Butler Associates in 2006. He was previously employed at Contel Telephone and the City of O’Fallon.
As a dedicated man of faith, Jerry was a longtime parishioner of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Kiwanis. He attended retreats for over 25 years at The White House Jesuit Retreat Center, where he renewed his commitment to his faith as a devout Catholic. He also volunteered for many years as a Eucharistic minister at SSM Hospitals.
Jerry had many hobbies and enjoyed gardening, woodworking, drawing, painting and other artistic creations. More than anything, he loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a loyal friend to all and never knew a stranger.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents Leo Schoenherr and Loretta Schoenherr (nee Behrmann), his son Edward Schoenherr, and many other friends and family members.
He is survived by his devoted wife, JoAnn Schoenherr; son, David (Amy) Schoenherr, daughter Barb Patton, daughter-in-law Debbie Schoenherr (Ed), daughter Laura (Ted) Thorp, and son Steve (Tess) Schoenherr. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Mary Beth Whitehead (Bill) and Janet White (Dick - deceased).
