Gerald “Jerry” Bredensteiner

Gerald Frederick Bredensteiner, of Big Spring, MO, passed away Sunday, September 19, 2021, at the age of 76. Beloved husband of Barbara Bredensteiner; cherished son of the late Aloysius Bredensteiner and the late Laverne Fischer; devoted father of Stephen (Lisa) Bredensteiner, Bradley Bredensteiner, Amanda (Nathan) Goff and the late Jeffrey Wayne Bredensteiner; loving grandfather of Gerald (Jamie) Bredensteiner, Shane (Elizabeth) Bredensteiner, Morgan (Nicholas) Noah, Jeremiah Bredensteiner, Mariella Bredensteiner, Justus Bredensteiner, Alex Bredensteiner, Aden Bredensteiner, Megan Bredensteiner, Breanna Goff, and Bryce Goff; treasured great-grandfather of Emma, Ethan, Amelia, and Warren Bredensteiner, Landon & Colin Noah and one on the way (Kinsley); dear brother of the late John “Pic” Bredensteiner, the late Tom “Hog” Bredensteiner and the late Carol Wilson; He is survived by his uncle Ken Fischer. Gerald was a lifelong member of St. Peter Catholic Church and he graduated from Duchesne High School in 1962. He married his wife of 59 years, Barbara on August 4, 1962 and joined the United States Army where he served for three years. After his service in the Army he began working at Monsanto/MEMC where he worked for 45 years until his retirement in 2010. Gerald and Barbara moved to Big Spring in 1995 and resided there until his passing. Gerald enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and mowing the lawn. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan who tried to watch every game he could on TV and would occasionally catch a game down at Busch Stadium. Gerald spent a lot of time on athletic fields or courts over the years with his family. Whether he was coaching or spectating, his favorite place to be was watching his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren play sports. In his younger years he played baseball, slow and fast pitch softball, bowling and horseshoes. He loved taking care of his animals; llamas, cats, peacocks and various other animals. Gerald was a devoted family man, who put a smile on everyone’s face. Gerald was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Memorials may be made in Gerald's name to Duchesne Athletic Boosters or St. Peter Catholic Church.
