Gerald “Jerry” James Lofton, of St. Charles, MO, passed away Monday, August 5, 2019 at the age of 78. Beloved husband of Edna Lofton; cherished son of the late James and Armella Lofton; devoted father of Julie Anne (Tony) Carter and Jennifer Kay (Eric) McChesney; loving grandfather of Alexis, Drew, Luke, Brooke, Blair, Alexandria, Paige, Troy, Christopher, Tony, Allison, Tori, Jeffrey, Steven, Aisha, Kylie, Jeremy, Dolce and Anna; treasured great-grandfather of Jack, Jason, Jacob, Kace, Brody, Glaison, Kruse, Barrett, Lainey with one more great-grandson on the way; dear brother of the late Greg Lofton, Charles (Joyce) Lofton and Mary Ann (Bruce Koepke) Reid; Gerald is also survived by step-children Jeff (Aimee) Covington, Richard (Bree) Covington, Albert (Melody) Covington, sister-in-law Pat Lofton, and his dear aunt Celeste and former wife Jane Lofton.
Jerry proudly and honorably served in the United States Marine Corps. He was a member of the Moolah Shrine Temple and the Meridian Lodge #2 AF & AM, St. Louis, MO. Jerry retired from SuperValue where he worked in transportation. He was a police officer in St. Ann, Missouri and was a Missouri State Highway Patrolman. He was a private chauffeur and bodyguard for many years and provided security for incoming celebrities and officials. He was a pilot and enjoyed flying. He loved to go camping and traveling. Jerry also loved singing. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and family was the most important priority in his life.
Jerry is dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
