Gerald E. Varker
of Saint Charles, MO, passed away on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at the age of 91. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Barbara Varker (nee Hontz); children Mary (John) Meehan, Jean Varker, Jane (Jim) Harrer and Elaine (Jim) Vollmar; 7 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents.
Gerald (Jerry) was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving during the Korean war and spent his working career at American Car & Foundry (ACF). Singing brought him great joy, whether in the First United Methodist Church choir or traveling around the world with The Ambassadors of Harmony. Always a devoted husband, dad, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved family gatherings, travel, was a crossword puzzle enthusiast, a scholar, and never missed an opportunity to watch and support all the various activities the grandchildren were involved in. He will be greatly missed.
“The greatest satisfaction comes from witnessing and enjoying and admiring the development of the little “branches” as they sprout from the family tree. Whatever the root system contributed to their growth is what made life worthwhile.” (G. E. Varker)
Memorial contributions may be given in his name to First St. Charles United Methodist Church or the Parkinson’s Foundation.
Baue Funeral Homes is currently following CDC recommendations regarding mask and social distancing policies.
