Gerald Lewis Young (Gerry), of Wentzville, MO, passed away Friday, October 25, 2024 at the age of 80. Beloved husband to Gerry Sue; cherished son of the late Herbert and Ruth Young; devoted father of Karen (Tim) Honeycutt, Johanna Young and the late Stephen Young; loving grandfather of AJ Hill, Sami Young, Brian Young, Kimi Honeycutt, Tyler Honeycutt and Sean Young; treasured great-grandfather of Damian Honeycutt and Aya Teegarden; dear brother of Mary Richards and the late Richard (Grace survives) Young; brother-in-law of Ron (Diane) Trantham.
Gerald was married for 60 years to the love of his life, Gerry Sue, they recently celebrated their enduring love this past June. A true Man of God, Gerald practiced ministry for over 50 years, inspiring and touching countless lives. He earned his PhD in Theology from Midwestern Theological Seminary, grounding himself deeply in his faith and his dedication to serving others.
Throughout his life, Gerald was actively involved in his church community, serving as Youth Director at St. John’s Church and guiding young people in their spiritual journeys. Outside his ministry, Gerald was an avid sports enthusiast, playing baseball, basketball, and football during his high school years. He loved golfing, bowling, and cheering on his beloved Cardinals and Blues teams.
Gerald had a passion for history, particularly the Civil War era, and enjoyed studying and reflecting on the past. A lover of music, he often found comfort and joy in the voices of Frank Sinatra, Bob Dylan, and Johnny Cash. His greatest joy, however, came from his family. He was a dedicated family man who cherished every moment spent with his loved ones.
Gerald’s unwavering faith, kindness, and love for the Lord will be remembered by all who knew him. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed, leaving a legacy of faith and love in the hearts of those he touched.
