Gertrude Lay

Memorial contributions may be made to Missouri Botanical Gardens Children's Education Program. Gertrude Lay, Matteson, IL, August 7, 2002 age 89. Preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Louis C. Lay, sister Lillian Schuler and granddaughter Olivia Lay. Survived by her son Dale R. (Joyce) and her daughter Jo-Ann Gertken (Tony), brother James W. Elliff, 5 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren. Dear aunt, great aunt and sister-in-law. Mrs. Lay was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who always had a smile. She had a love of flowers, gardening and oil painting. She was a long time St. Louis area resident and in re-tirement lived on Table Rock Lake and Bradenton, FL. She will be dearly missed. Memorials may be made in her honor to the Missouri Botanical Gardens Children's Education Program.
