Glenavee McFarland (nee Bateman), of Saint Charles, MO, passed away Saturday, August 17, 2024, at the age of 98. Beloved wife of 72 years to the late Henry H. McFarland; cherished daughter of the late Gladys and Roger Lee Bateman; devoted mother of Robert (Barbara) McFarland, Marilyn McFarland, Carolyn (James) Pierce, and Janice (Michael) Heitmann; loving grandmother of Katie Canole, Austin (Anne) Pierce, Chad (Allie) Pierce, Christopher (Tara) Pierce, Matthew (Kimberly) Heitmann, and Brian (Melanie) Heitmann; treasured great grandmother of Lucy Pierce, Nora Pierce, Relena Pierce, Simon Heitmann, Alice Heitmann, and Emily Heitmann; dear sister of Kenneth (Patsey) Bateman; the late Mary Lee Martin, and the late Barbara Jo Wilkins; aunt and great aunt to many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Glenavee grew up in Cardwell, Missouri before moving to St. Louis in 1952, and to St. Charles in 1957. She was a long-time faithful member of First Baptist Church of St. Charles. Her greatest accomplishment was raising her children. Fishing and camping were their favorite things to do. Glenavee’s humor was a wonderful character trait that many people would recognize. Always interested to know everyone's name, Glenavee would connect to them by song, often singing little songs to them. She was outgoing, welcoming, and always open to meet new people. Glenavee was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Memorials may be made in Glenavee's name to First Baptist Church of St. Charles General Fund.
