Memorials may be made to Good Shepherd U.C.C. in St. Charles, MO. Glenn Hertenstein died on Friday, March 27, 2009 at the age of 85. Mr. Hertenstein graduated from New Baden (Illinois) High School in 1941 and Sanford Brown Business College in 1942. He worked for Missouri Pacific Lines from 1942 until going into the Navy in March, 1943 where he then entered into the Navy V-12 Officer Training Program. In the V-12 Program he received a B.S. in Business degree and was commissioned an Ensign. Glenn returned to work for Missouri Pacific Lines during which time he was married to Dorothy Schlanker of Warrenton, MO. In January of 1947, Dorothy and Glenn moved to Madison, WI, where Glenn attended the University of Wisconsin, receiving an M.B.A. degree. Returning to the St. Louis area, Glenn began work at International Shoe Co. where he worked for 25 years. In 1966, he became Vice President of the Retail Division of International Shoe. In 1972, Glenn transferred to Central Hardware Co. He was the Financial Officer of the Company, retiring in 1985 as Senior Vice President. In 1985, Glenn became a Licensed Minister in the United Church of Christ, serving for a year as Interim Pastor of Grace Church in O'Fallon and for three years as Assistant Pastor for Friedens Church in Warrenton, MO. In addition to his wife, Dorothy, of O'Fallon, MO, Glenn is survived by 2 sons, Rod of Ballwin, MO and Bryan, of Florissant, MO and daughters-in-law, Judy and Louise; 4 grandchildren, Paul, Laura, Jake, Ross, and a grandson-in-law, Jeff.
