Hal Kinsey

March 4, 1942 — November 29, 2015

Hal Edward Kinsey, 73, passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Nov. 29, 2015, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis after a long battle with numerous health conditions.

He was born one of 11 children to Richard and Fairy Kinsey in Poplar Bluff, MO.  Even though Hal left their farm when he was 18 to join the army where he served for three years, his heart always remained in the country. After meeting a small-town girl from Risco, MO, he moved to St. Louis to work for Ford Motor Company. A long-distance relationship led to a wedding and three sons. He worked at Ford for 32 years and retired, but he continued to work by consulting within the auto industry for 17 years, up until one week before his death.

When he wasn’t consulting, working in his yard (and his boys’ yards unbeknownst to them), barbequing for Sunday family get-togethers, attending grandchildren’s sporting and school events, watching the Cardinals, or simply doing something for someone else, Hal most enjoyed hunting and fishing at his farm with his children, grandchildren, and other friends and family.

Hal leaves behind his wife of 51 years Diana (Albritton) Kinsey; his son Hal Jr. and wife Peggy, grandson Hal III (Trey) and granddaughter Karlie; son Keith and wife Heather, grandsons Garrett and Gabriel; son Chad and wife Michele, granddaughter Kara and grandsons Logan and Hunter; and unofficial son Erik Meyers and his son Eli. He’s also survived by brothers Bob, Jerry, Carl, Johnny and wife Mary Jo, Donnie, Ronnie and wife Sharon, sister Cherry, brothers-in-law Ronnie Albritton and Don Karnes, sister-in-law Deanna Albritton, and lots of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Richard and Sammy, and his sister Mary.

Visitation will be held Friday, Dec. 4, at 4:00-8:00 p.m. at Baue Funeral Home, 311 Wood Street, O’Fallon, MO 63366.  The funeral service will also be held at Baue Funeral Home on Saturday, Dec. 5, at 2:00 p.m.
