Harlan Eugene Heck, 87, of St. Charles passed away peacefully on Monday, May 25, 2020.
He was born in St. Charles, Missouri on October 12, 1932. His parents, Wilbert and Hazel (Emge) Heck, preceded him in death. Harlan was married to LaVerne Dickherber for nearly 60 years before her death on January 25, 2012. Devoted father of Cindy (Steve) Sebacher, Bonnie (Sharon) Heck, Harlan (Ramona) Heck, Jr., Stuart (Terry) Heck, Julie (Al) Froede, and the late Boyd Heck; loving grandfather of Stephanie (Heath) Thomure, Jesse (Michele) Sebacher, Ryan Sebacher, Harleigh (David) Fisher, Faye Heck, Lauren Heberer, the late Christina Heberer, Adam Balbi, Lauren Froede, Erin Froede, Ben Froede, William Heck, Alexander Heck, and Nicholas Heck; treasured great-grandfather of Elise Sebacher, Ian Sebacher, Elizabeth Sebacher, Stephen Thomure, Sage Winchester, Vivian Marler and Eden Froede; dear brother of the late Cleo Boschert and the late Joyce Lange; Harlan is also survived by Special Friend, Carol Ann Russell.
Harlan was a member of St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, St. Roberts Men’s Club, and Toastmasters International. He retired from McDonnell Douglas in 1990 as the Director of Management in Tooling Division after 38 years. Harlan loved his family, traveling, boating, coaching women’s softball teams, square dancing, bowling and woodworking. He built both of the homes where he and LaVerne raised their family. He would volunteer at St. Roberts and was the best Bingo caller. Harlan was “Mr. Fix It” for all of his children and half of the residents of St. Charles. Harlan was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
