Harold G. Snead

September 28, 1926 — January 12, 2021

Harold Gene Snead, of O’Fallon, MO, passed away Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at the age of 94. Beloved husband of 70 years and 4 months to Sophronia “Sophie” Snead; cherished son of the late John and Lena Snead; devoted father of Rev. Doyle (Karen) Snead, Randy (Lisa) Snead, Ernie (Nancy) Snead, Joel (Sue) Snead, and Sandy (The late Mark) Roman; loving grandfather of nine; treasured great-grandfather of twelve; dear brother of the late Betty Lou Grumpke and the late John Snead; uncle of Joann Paul and Suzann Cass; Harold is also survived by numerous extended family members and many friends.

Harold proudly and honorably served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He was blessed with the opportunity to take the Honor Flight with his son, Ernie, just a few years ago. Harold was a very good baseball player and went on a world tour as a catcher with an Army Professional team, they toured Europe and won a championship in 1946 which he received accommodation for. Harold was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, watching them right up until the end.  He played for Pattonville High School and taught his kids to play and they cherish those memories. He was an active father with his children growing up, he would take the boys out on Boy Scout or R.A. trips, especially camping and hiking. He was a devout Christian and taught Sunday School for many years. Harold was also a deacon, a founding member of the Ballwin Baptist Church and was a member of First Baptist Church O’Fallon. Harold was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Memorials may be made in Harold's name to Backstoppers.

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic Baue Funeral Homes does require all family members and guests to wear a mask while visiting our facilities. Social distancing is required, and guests should stay at least 6 feet apart. Thank you for your understanding.

Private services will be held January 20 and cremation rites afforded. Inurnment will take place at St. Charles Memorial Gardens at a later date.
