Harold Hicks Hill of Flint Hill, Missouri, fortified with the sacraments of the Holy Mother Church, on Friday, December 15, 2017, at the age of 94. Beloved husband of Mary (Mennemeier) Hill nee: Bannes; cherished son of the late Edgar and Mary Vivian Hill; devoted father of David (Trish) Hill; Dennis (Christine) Hill; and Donna (Mike) Greenwood; loving stepfather of Mike (Donna) Wilke, Tom (Darlene) Wilke, Larry (Judith) Mennemeier, Mary Therese (Rick) Webb, Mark (Carol Cornell) Mennemeier, Jeanne (Bill) Hutson, Susan (David) Blevins, and Debbie (Joe) Mueller; and treasured grandfather of 28 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Harold is preceded in death by his former wife, Catherine (Katy) Wilke nee: Burkemper, sisters Leona (Orville) Hutton and Loretta (Bill) Thomas, brothers George (Irene) Hill and James (Dorothy) Hill, grandson William Hutson, and twin great-grandchildren David and Allison O’Leary.
Harold was a graduate of Troy Buchanan High School. Harold proudly served in the United States Coast Guard during World War II. He was wounded on the Destroyer Escort USS Calcaterra, in the Mediterranean Sea. Harold was a rural mail carrier in Moscow Mills, while farming for 27 years. After retiring, Harold became a real estate salesman and broker for 24 years. He was a long-time member of St. Theodore Catholic Church in Flint Hill. Harold was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan and enjoyed quail hunting with his friends and boys. In his younger years, one of his greatest enjoyments was coaching the Moscow Mills Men’s Fast Pitch softball team. He loved traveling with his family and friends. Harold will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. The family appreciates the loving care provided by Davita Dialysis in Lake St. Louis for the last 3 ½ years.
