Harold E. Slingerland

Harold E. Slingerland, of Ballwin, MO, passed away Monday, August 21, 2023 at the age of 86. Beloved husband of Gina Slingerland; cherished son of the late Harold E. Slinglerland, Sr., and the late Florence Slingerland; devoted father of Maria (Richard) Mooney, David Slingerland and Brian (Heather) Slingerland; step-father of Todd Zimerman, Bradley (Kimberly) Zimerman; loving grandfather of William Mooney, Autumn Slingerland, Andrew Slingerland, Robert Zimerman, Brittnay (Frank) Kerbler and Brendan Zimerman,; treasured great-grandfather of Carsynn, Kamrynn and Hunter; dear brother of the late Carol Ann; brother-in-law of Michael Danisheysky; uncle of Debbie, Jeanie and Denice. Harry is preceded in death by his first wife, the late Virginia Slingerland. 

Harry proudly and honorably served in the United States Navy. He was a hard worker and an intelligent man. He earned his MBA from SIU Edwardsville. He worked at the Federal Reserve Bank St. Louis for 35+ years while also teaching as a professor at Lindenwood College. 

He and his sister were professional and accomplished dancers, in their youth, dancing at places such as The Muny and Chase Park Plaza to name a few. He was a very caring man who was always dedicated to his family. He enjoyed being creative and used writing as an outlet. Harold met Gina while dancing and they have danced through life together for the past twelve years.  

Harry was a man of faith and a long time member of St. Joseph Church in Cottleville. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. 

Memorials may be made in Harry’s name to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
