Helen I. Kronmueller

We’ve lost a caring, thoughtful, strong and brave woman. Helen Irene Kronmueller (nee Schomber) of Dardenne Prairie, MO died on Tuesday, December 15th surrounded by the love of her family. On July 19, 2020 she turned 93.

Helen is now in peace with the love of her life and husband of 66 years, William W. Kronmueller. Helen was a role model for strength and perseverance for those who paid her attention. Born in 1927, she grew up during the depression which developed her strong work ethic and values. She graduated from Cleveland High School and went on to earn a Bachelor of Commercial Science Degree from the Missouri Institute of Accountancy and Law. Her personal strength was proven as she became the first college graduate in her family, along with being the only woman in her class to complete the coursework and graduate. Education was very important to Helen as she recognized that it would always open doors, provide opportunities and could never be taken away. She is survived by her children Diane Husk and husband Kevin; Nancy Minster and husband Jeffrey; Bill Kronmueller and wife Cindy.

Helen treasured the time spent with her grandchildren, Spencer and Mason Husk; Rhiannon, Garrett, Cullen and Veronica Minster; Ericka, Katie, Abby and Keegan Kronmueller. Family gatherings and lunches with Lois Kronmueller, Vikki Husk, Jeri and Terry Wells, Jeanie Schomber Longo, Bill and Barb Scannell brought her much joy and many fond memories. She was a dear sister-in-law, aunt, godmother to Susan Dahl and most dearest friend, especially to Doris Krick and Toni Busken.

Helen grew up in St. Louis, MO and was preceded in death by her brother and sister, Charles and Loretta. Helen’s mom died when she was a teenager so she helped raise her younger siblings. Helen loved all of the pets that the family raised over the years but most recently, had the companionship and unconditional love of her Brussels Griffin, Isabelle Sprout - they were inseparable.

With her husband, in 1956, they became charter members of the Church of the Master in Florissant , MO and were active members as the church grew in the community. Helen ensured that her children were confirmed in the church and knew the spiritual presence of God in their lives. Helen continued to be a member for 64 years and recently learned to watch live-streamed services. During her children’s younger years, Helen stayed home, managing the house and actively volunteering at their school and served as a Girl Scout leader for many years. She later built upon her accounting education and experience to become certified in tax preparation by the IRS and had a successful career with H&R Block before joining her husband in retirement. In their retirement years, they enjoyed traveling within the United States visiting historical sites, National Parks and attending antique shows. Later in life, she enjoyed traveling to Fort Myers, Florida with Diane to see treasured family members Lois and Ron Toth along with Joyce and Chuck Onufer. Helen enjoyed watching for the different birds and wildlife either from the lanai or on daily nature drives. She also became an avid St. Louis Cardinal baseball fan following and watching all of their games even having a Cardboard cutout in the stands at Busch Stadium this past season. Her Cardinal jersey reflected Grandma 19 and was worn frequently during the season.

Helen’s family wants to extend a special thank you and appreciation to her nephrologist, Dr. Juknis and the team at Davita Waterbury for the extraordinary and compassionate care that they provided over the past 20 months and 300 dialysis treatments. The healthcare team at Progress West Hospital must also be thanked for their most recent special, compassionate and thoughtful care.

Helen wanted to share that she was blessed with a life filled with splendor, joy, happiness and the love of family and friends. Helen’s enduring strength will always be remembered. Her legacy will live on through her beloved children, grandchildren, family and friends.

Our years of happy moments and memories will fill our hearts and her love will embrace us forever.
