Helen L. Schmelder (nee Behnken), of Saint Peters, MO, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at the age of 86. Loving wife of the late Rev. William J. Schmelder; beloved daughter of the late John and Hilda Behnken; devoted mother of William "Bill" (Kathy) Schmelder of Omaha, NE, Keith (Lisa) Schmelder of St. Charles, MO, Craig (Jennifer) Schmelder of Batavia, IL, Kathi (Joshua) Kean of St. Charles, MO and son-in-law, James Voelkel of St. Charles, MO; cherished grandmother Jessica (John) Marcanik, Casey (Kevin) McGuire, Taylor, Kevin, Brooke, Nolan, & Amanda Schmelder, Alyssa, Courtney, & Sarah Voelkel, Hannah & Julia Kean. Helen is preceded in death by her daughter, Lynn Voelkel; and seven brothers and sisters.
Helen was a faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Olivette. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Helen was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
