Stein, Herbert "Herb" Stein, of O’Fallon, Missouri, died on Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at the age of 90. Dear husband of Betty Stein; beloved son of the late Max and Margaret Stein; devoted father of Robert (Christine Denham) Stein; dear father-in-law of Eliska Stein. Treasured grandfather of Thomas (Tammy) Stein, Herbert A. "Chip" (Debbie) Stein III, Margaret Stein, Matthew Stein and Jennifer Stein; cherished great-grandfather of 5; dear uncle of Tom (Jan) Lathrop, Jack (Angie) Lathrop and Jim (Marlene) Lathrop; He is preceded in death by Florence Guenther, sister; Norma Blazel, sister; Frieda Lathrop, sister; Herbert A. Stein, Jr, son. He was employed at The Wisconsin Telephone Co. for 32 years, followed by 10 years at The New England Telephone Co. (now Verizon) where he retired as Division Manager in charge of long distance services in New England. He was a member of Pioneers of America, a Bell System Association. Memorials may be made in lieu of flowers to the American Cancer Society.
