Herbert “Bert” A. Gatermann, Jr.

Herbert “Bert” A. Gatermann, Jr., of Saint Louis, MO, passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2020 at the age of 86. Loving husband of the late Marilyn Gatermann; beloved son of the late Herbert Albert Sr. and Margaret Gatermann; devoted father of Debbie (Robert) Smith, Steve (Cindy) Gatermann, Mark Gatermann, and Dee Dee (Eric) Kundinger; cherished grandfather of Tim (Suzanne) Smith, Matt (Kerri) Smith, Keith Gatermann, Nicole Smith, Tina Dowell, Bre Gatermann, Madisyn (Andrew) Heard, Hunter Gatermann, Colton Kundinger, Ireland Gatermann, Russ Gatermann, Luke Gatermann, and Brent Gatermann; treasured great-grandfather of Chase, Grace, Austin, Brooklynne, Abigail, Rylee, Oliver, and Mila. Herbert is also preceded in death by his twin brother, Robert Gatermann.

Bert was a parishioner and active member of St. Cletus Catholic Church. He was very involved with the senior group at St. Cletus, "the Cletes.” Bert was also very involved with the Boy Scouts, and served as a leader for over 20 years. He liked photography and spending time outdoors expanding his rock collection, hunting, and fishing. All the neighborhood kids loved playing at their family home when they were young, and he is fondly remembered as a sweet, loving, giving, and kindhearted man. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
