Howard G. Finke

Beloved husband of Ida Louise Finke (née: Hoerl); cherished son of the late Walter and Bernice Finke; devoted father of David Finke and his wife Lavada, Karen Finke, Dr. Marilyn Finke, and Janet Taylor and her husband Michael; loving grandfather of Kailee Smith and her husband, Dr. J. Michael, Kyle Taylor, and Logan Taylor; and step-grandfather of Chris Lanigan and his wife Jennifer. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Randall Finke, Walter Finke, and Geneva Finke.

Howard’s special character was developed during his early years on his family’s farm in southwest Missouri. He proudly served his country in the US Army Air Corps during World War II and, after the war, he graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in electrical engineering. During his 30 years of employment at McDonnell Douglas, he was an integral part of the success of avionics system development.  Howard was a charter member, elder, and active member of Our Savior Lutheran Church for 55 years.  He was an avid fisherman and hunter, and enjoyed golf after retirement. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
