Howard H. Kleine

Howard Henry Kleine, of Saint Peters, MO, passed away Monday, April 6, 2020, at the age of 87. Loving Husband for late Sharon (Clark) Kleine.  Beloved son of the late Henry and Frieda Kleine; devoted father of Susan (Dan) Fishbein and David (Melinda) Kleine; cherished grandfather of Daniel Triptow, Emily Triptow, William (Jessica) Kleine, and Mitchell Kleine.  He was preceded in death by brother Reinhart (Cloetta) Kleine, sister Evelyn (Marion) DeBernardi, brother Gerald (Roberta) Kleine, sister Dorothy Kleine.

Howard was born and raised in Centralia/Womack Illinois and later lived in Delevan, Illinois for fifty years. During the Korean War, Howard served in the Navy aboard the USS Boxer (1951-1955) as a Storekeeper and he was proud of his service to his country. He was a tremendous fan of the game of baseball and his St. Louis Cardinals. Sports in general had a special place in Howard’s heart as he was a licensed official with the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) for baseball, basketball, and football and was a die-hard fan of University of Illinois sports as well as their marching band.

Howard retired in 1995 from the Caterpillar Tractor Company in East Peoria, IL after forty years of service. He belonged to American Legion Post 382 in Delevan, IL and was a faithful member of both Delevan United Methodist Church and First United Methodist Church of St. Charles. Howard was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Memorials may be made in Howard's name to F.I.S.H of St. Charles. F.I.S.H. provides emergency assistance to families in need.
