Ida (Aronica) D'Amico, born November 3, 1926, in Buffalo, NY, died peacefully at home in St. Charles MO on April 22, 2009 as coffee brewed and lilacs bloomed. Ida was the beloved wife of Frank D'Amico for fifty-six years. They met in Buffalo in their 20's and were at each other's side raising three beautiful children Mary Lynette (Polly Carl) of Minneapolis, MN, Mark (Kathy) of Hazelwood, MO, and James (Sherry) of St. Charles, MO. Early in their marriage, Ida and Frank moved from Buffalo and lived in San Diego, CA, eventually settling in St. Louis, MO. Ida worked in retail and nursing home care and did extensive volunteer work at her church, but Ida's passion was her children and her five grandchildren, Amy (Andrew Rogers), Emily, David, Erin, and Kelly. She was the Italian matriarch who kept the perfect house and was famous for her Italian cuisine. We will all remember her gnocchi at Christmas, and her array of Italian cookies of which she made thousands and sent them around the country to all her loved ones. If you came to visit Ida at dinner time she would greet you with homemade chicken soup, and her famous pizza and apple pie. Ida was a devoted wife, and loving mother. In addition to her husband, children, and grand-children, she is survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and many other relatives and dear friends. Her indomitable and loving spirit will be missed by all. Ida was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Concetta Aronica, brothers, Joseph, Phillip, sister Jennie (Arcara), and brother Leonard (Angela).
