Imogene Faulkner, of Mount Carmel Senior Living in St. Charles, Missouri, reported early to spring training on Sunday, February 9, 2014 at the age of 93. A life-long Cardinals fan, Imogene's smile always lit up the room. In her younger days she loved bowling, gardening and travel. But her greatest love in life '“ besides her dear family '“ were the St. Louis Cardinals. She watched every game and cheered whether they won or lost '“ often telling them what they were doing wrong! The Cardinals path to win the World Series in 2011 was a highlight of her later years, and she proudly wore her 'Got squirrels?' t-shirt all the way to the end. Imogene is survived by her husband of 64 years, Charles Faulkner; her loving daughter Peggy (David) McKnight, who cared for her as only a daughter can; her grandchildren Robin (Michael) Thompson and Jeff (Rhiannon) McKnight; and her great-grandchildren, Matthew & Collin Thompson and Raechel & Rhys McKnight; her brother-in-law, Gene Wall. She was predeceased by her parents, Elmer & Julia Hicks, her brothers, Leroy, Pete and Carl Hicks, and her sisters, Marveline Niemeyer and Bess Wall. Imogene's family would like to express their gratitude to the caring staff at Mount Carmel, as they let her fill her days with helping others and making them smile. Granny, we certainly know there will be a new angel in the outfield come Opening Day. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Heart Association or Mount Carmel Senior Living.
