Irene Marie Schulte (nee Osthoff), age 92, passed away Tuesday, October 31 at Lakeside Meadows nursing facility in Osage Beach, Mo. She was born in St. Louis on May 31, 1925 to George and Anna Osthoff.
While she lived the vast majority of her life in St. Louis, she also resided in Hermann and New Melle, MO moving to the Lake of the Ozarks in 2006.
Irene took great pride in her pursuit of education culminating in her becoming a registered nurse. However, in her heart she was an entrepreneur – everything from opening a day care center as a young widow to later in life building and operating a B&B with her beloved sister, Marie, in Hermann. Her passion though was her family. She was undoubtedly the most unselfish mother, grandmother, and great grandmother anyone could possibly hope to have.
She is survived by daughters Georgann (Richard) Stockton of Osage Beach and Linda Schulte (John Petet) of Denver, CO; grandsons Douglas (Crystal) Stockton and Christopher (Theresa) Stockton of St. Louis, and great grandchildren Harrison, Sofia, and Ethan of St. Louis.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter John Schulte, her parents, and siblings Raymond, Edward, & Marie Osthoff.
Irene indeed made a difference in every life she touched and will certainly be missed. There will be a Celebration of Life honoring this remarkable woman on Thursday, December 28, 2017 in St. Louis. Please contact Irene's daughter Georgann for service information. Memorial Contributions may be made to the
National Parkinson Foundation or the
American Heart Association.
