Irene Ellen May

Irene Ellen May (nee Fontana), of Saint Charles, MO, passed away Sunday, April 7, 2024, at the age of 81. Beloved wife of the late Frank Vincent May, Jr.; cherished daughter of the late Nellie Lorene and Louis Fontana, Jr.; devoted mother of Sherry Cashen (Martin), Angela (Donnie) Casida, and the late Louis May; step-mother of Elaine (Michael) Carney, Suzanne Abusharbain, Frank May, III, and Melissa Bellm; dear sister of Louise Marie (Deacon Don) McElroy, and Patricia Ann (the late Joseph) Mancuso; loving grandmother of 19; great grandmother of 5; beloved aunt, cousin, and friend to many.

Irene, a devoted artist with a passion for painting, found joy in playing the piano and took immense pride in her Catholic faith, cherishing her profound love for the Lord. In her free time, she enjoyed listening to and playing music and traveling with her family. Adoring her family and pets, she embodied kindness and approachability, consistently offering support to others and extending a helping hand wherever necessary, always putting her family's needs above all else. As a mother and grandmother, she excelled, earning the title of the best mom and grandma in the world. Irene's warmth and love touched the hearts of all who knew her, and her absence leaves a profound void that will be deeply felt by those she leaves behind.

Memorials may be made in Irene's name to Humane Society of Missouri, Five Acres, Stray Rescue of St. Louis.
