Jean Maurice Thro Jr. of St. Charles, MO passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at the age of 82. Mr. Thro ("Moe") was preceded in death by an infant son at birth and his son Jean Maurice III. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Joan (Luetkenhaus), and his children Rose Duchesne Wells (David), Jeanne Michelle Schrick (Joe), John Baptiste (Jessica), Jacques Michel (Donna), Jules Marcel, Jean-Marc (Andriana) and Jourdain Mathieu as well as his 12 loving grandchildren Joseph, Blaire, Madeleine, Jacob, Jocelyn, Jillian, Michael, Etienne, Gabrielle, Colette, Alex and Christian. He is also survived by his cherished sister, Nancy Page (Josey). Moe graduated from St. Louis University High School in 1947. He went on to serve in the United States Navy for four years during the Korean War. Following his time in the military he returned to St. Charles, graduated from St Louis University, was married and resumed his career at Thro Clothing Company where he succeeded his father as President of the company in 1977. In addition to his family and business, Moe was dedicated to community service. Moe was a past Grand Knight of the St. Charles Knights of Columbus Council 823. He was a member and served as past President of the St. Joseph Health Center Advisory Board and chairman of the board of directors of the St. Charles Federal Savings and Loan Association. In addition, he served on several other organizations including: the St. Charles Chamber of Commerce, the St. Charles County Economic Development Commission, the Academy of the Sacred Heart Endowment Board, the St. Charles Special Business District Board and the St. Charles Planning and Zoning Board. Moe was also a founding board member of the St. Louis Bi-State chapter of the National Head Injury Foundation. He belonged to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton parish in St. Charles. Moe touched the lives of many, and he will be lovingly remembered by all who knew him. May God bless his soul.
