Fender, Jack, of Monroe City, MO (formerly of St. Charles) died on September 22, 2008 at the age of 71. Jack was the beloved husband of Linda Fender (nee: Blackwood), whom he married in May of 1960. Jack owned and ran two service stations in St. Charles, worked for Ford Motor Company for over 25 years, and, together with his wife, spent 10 years as an advisor for young people with Junior Achievement. Jack loved to work with cars, and that carried into his hobbies. Stock car racing was a passion of his, as was boat racing, fishing and deer hunting. Although an accident left him with only one arm, he still pursued his hobbies with abundance and could master anything he set his mind to, even bringing home a big deer after a successful hunting excursion. A compassionate and caring man, Jack never met a person--or animal--that he couldn't charm. His dogs, Winnie Was White and Molly Brown, were his girls and like children to him; he also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, half-siblings, and friends who will miss him dearly. Memorials may be made in Jack's name to the Humane Society of St. Charles or the Humane Society of St. Louis.
