James A. Austin Sr.

James A. Austin Sr. of Eureka, MO, passed away Saturday, August 28, 2021, at the age of 82. Beloved husband of the late Judy Diane Austin; cherished son of the late James B. Austin and Cleo Bom. Devoted father of Julie (Richard J.) Todd, Son, James Austin, Jr.; loving grandfather of Ethan Austin; dear brother of Sandra (Carroll) York, Cousin, and friend to many. Jim was a member of VFW Cape Girardeau Post #3838, St. Louis Shriners, Meremac Masonic Lodge #313, and St. Louis Scottish Rites. He proudly served in the United States Navy and Air Force. He was a lifetime Eagle Scout. He earned many medals and merits in the Navy as an Aviation Electronics Petty Officer and the Air Force as a staff sergeant in Aviation Electronics. Jim was a retired Crestwood police officer of 35 years. He found his purpose in taking care of his family,
serving others, and loved his community. During his employment as a Crestwood police officer, he earned a Master’s Degree from Webster University in Law Enforcement. He owned his own home security systems business for over 40 years. James loved reading, martial arts, and loved exploring with his wife Judy. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandson. James was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Memorial donations in Jim’s name may be made to Backstoppers, Wounded Warriors, or Shriner’s Hospital for Children.
