James "Jim" Alan Leonard of Wright City, MO, passed away Monday, November 5, 2018, at the age of 62. Beloved husband of Melodie Leonard; devoted father of Sherry Place, Sandy (Zach) Kruszewski, Michael Place, Jeremy (Mindi) Patty, Misty Ellington, Tina Ellington, and Jeffrey Vancoutren; loving grandfather of Jordan Place, Liliana Kruszweski, and Alivia Kruszweski; treasured special uncle of Taylor Penfold; dear brother of Robert (Kim) Leonard, Thomas Leonard, Ronald Leonard, and Susan (David) Moss. Jim is also survived by many adored nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins, and cherished friends. Jim was preceded in death by his parents John and Virginia Leonard.
James was a devout Catholic and showed his love for God and Jesus by sharing the Gospel. His strong love and faith helped him, and his family, while battling cancer for more than 5 years.
James deeply cherished his family, cherishing all the moments spent together. He especially loved doting on his grandchildren. He also enjoyed practicing his musical talent as a bass player, striking up a band with his brother and cousins dubbed “Uncle Ed”. While being a fan of music, he was a diehard sports fan, too. No matter the sport he would cheer on the local teams, especially the St. Louis Cardinals, one of his favorites. James will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him
Memorials may be made in James’ name to
Siteman Cancer Center in honor of his brave fight and to help those who also join the battle against cancer.
