Memorial donations may be made to SSM Hospice. Williams, III, James "Jim", of St. Charles, Missouri, died on Saturday, January 31, 2009, at the age of 60. Devoted husband of Ruth Ann Williams (nee: Hallquist); dear son of the late James Albert Jr. and Ann Marguerite Dyer Williams; loving father of James Albert Williams, IV and Julie Renee Williams; cherished brother of Ann Dyer Herrmann, Mary Jo (Steve) Hippe, Clarissa (Bruce) DuMontier, Paul David Williams and Bernard Dyer (Monika) Williams; dear uncle, cousin, coach and friend to many. Jim was a member of St. Cletus Catholic Church, St. Charles Council 823 Knights of Columbus, St. Charles County Historical Society and the Missouri Historical Society. He graduated from Helias High School in Jefferson City in 1966 and received his Bachelor of Science in 1970 and Master of Science in Education from Northwest Missouri State University in 1973. He was a teacher and coach for 33 years, a semi-professional football player for the Rockford Rams and Lake County Rifles, voted by Missouri Sports Writers Association the Missouri 4A Football Coach of the Year in 1982 and the ICBAA County Football Coach of the Year in 1983. In 1982, Jim led the St. Charles Pirates to the Missouri 4A State Football Championship (13-1), which as of February 2009 stands as the only state football championship in St. Charles County. Jim served 8 years on the St. Charles City Council. In 2005, he was honored by the Foundation of the School District of the City of St. Charles for Inspiring Students to Set and Achieve High Goals during his career as a teacher and coach at St. Charles High School. In March 2006, the St. Charles County Amateur Sports Hall of Fame presented Jim with the Outstanding Athletic Achievement Award. In November 2007, Jim received the Bob Gregory Award at Northwest Missouri State University, and in October 2008, the football field at St. Charles High School was dedicated and officially named Jim Williams Field. Jim was also the Driver's Ed. Teacher of the Year and was elected into the St. Louis Metro Football Coaches Hall of Fame.
