James "Jim" Coots

March 12, 1935 — November 14, 2024

St. Paul, Missouri

Jim passed peacefully at home surrounded by family, on Thursday, November 14, 2024. Devoted husband of Doris Coots. Cherished son of the late Russell and Helen Coots. Loving father of Bob (Kathy) Coots, Ron (Kim) Coots, and Dan (Kris) Coots. Cherished grandfather of Michelle (Christian) Reiling, Katie (Patrick) Yates, Meghan (Patrick) Conley, Justin, Lauren and Blake Coots. Treasured great-grandfather of Caroline Yates, Josie Yates, Carter Reiling, Ella Conley and Nora Reiling. Dear brother-in-law of Charlie and the late Sandy Feller, uncle to Jennifer (Brian) Bollinger and Jeff (Linda) Feller and many dear friends.

Jim graduated from Jennings High School in Jennings, MO. After high school he joined the Mid-America Carpenters Regional Council and would celebrate 70 years as a loyal member in 2024.

While in Jennings, he joined the Lion's Club and even served as President over the years. Jim proudly served in the United States Army Reserve and was honorably discharged in 1963.

Jim met his soulmate, Doris and they were married on January 21, 1961. Their 63 years together were blessed with three sons, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Jim was a dedicated husband and dad, who often worked overtime to provide for his family.

Jim worked over 40 years for J. S. Alberici Construction and worked his way up to a superintendent. He was a master of extensive concrete jobs. In his later years, he would travel for his job, and greatly appreciated it when his family would visit him on longer jobs. No project was too big for his undertaking.

In Jim's retirement years, more grandchildren came, and time spent attending school and sporting events and taking his grandchildren on adventures with Doris. Jim loved his farm and hunting property. He was a big history buff. Jim spent time working in his yard and was very meticulous in keeping it looking nice. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan and watched football in the winter. There are so many memories that we will treasure. He lived a full life of cherishing family time, vacations, hunting, fishing and spending time with their close friends.

Jim was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him, especially his angel and loving wife, Doris. Finally, we would like to thank the staff of St. Croix Hospice in order for him to remain at home.

Memorials may be made in James's name to Holy Cross Lutheran Church OFallon or St. Croix Hospice
