James E. Cragen, 97, of St. Charles died December 23 at Friendship Village Sunset Hills. He was born January 28, 1923 to Elmer and Ethel Cragen in Madisonville, Missouri. He served as a Corporal in the US Army Air Corp 390th Bomb Group (H) from 1942 to 1945. He worked as a General Foreman for McDonnell Douglass Electronics Corporation, retiring in 1981 after 28 years of service. He enjoyed fishing, trapshooting, rock polishing; and was a lifelong Cardinal fan. He was a member of St. Charles Christian Church. He was married to Vivian R. Millon on July 16, 1945 in Center, Missouri. She preceded him in death on January 17, 2003. He is survived by one daughter, Sharon (Gary) Strachan of Harviell, Missouri; two sons, Robert (Sherry) Cragen of McGregor, Texas; and Dave (Gina) Cragen of High Ridge, Missouri. He is also survived by five granddaughters: Cindy (Tim) Mansfield, Kelly Preddy, Andrea (Leah) Cragen, Taylor Cragen and Troy (Zach) Boman and one grandson, Wayne (Christine) Strachan. He is also survived by eleven great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
