James (Jim) Kenneth Hauk, Sr., 79, of O’Fallon, Missouri, went to be with Jesus, his Lord and Savior, on July 28, 2024.
Jim married the love of his life, Mary Diane Stack, in 1965. Their 59-year marriage was a testament to their true partnership, filled with dedication and a deep love for one another. Together, they raised five wonderful children: James (Amy) Hauk, Jr., John (Mike) Hauk, Joel (Julie) Hauk, Jason (Kayla) Hauk, and Blair (Matt) Hays. Jim’s love for his family was boundless, and he was a constant source of support and inspiration to his children.
As a grandfather, Jim found great joy in his ten grandchildren: Joshua, Adeline, Dustin, Drew, Riley, Lincoln, Dayton, Matthew, Isabel, and Benjamin. His grandchildren will forever remember his playful spirit, gentle guidance, and unconditional love.
Jim’s passions were running his business, relaxing at the lake, collecting, and tinkering with his cars, working around the house, meeting and greeting neighbors, talking about life, and spending time with his family. You couldn’t finish a conversation without something business related coming up, or him asking you about your numbers. You’d be hard pressed to see Jim without a car he loved and barely drove. “It diminished the value if you drove it”, he’d say. He always had the best dad/grandpa jokes that would get a little eye roll with a giggle. “I have to test your food for poison”, he would say as he would steal a bite. He was fun loving, had a kind heart, was very relatable, a friend to all, admired by many, and had never met a stranger.
Jim is survived by his wife, five children, nine grandchildren, two brothers (Bob Hauk and Steve Hauk), brother and sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews, and long-time friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, George, and Theresa Hauk; his youngest brother, Greg Hauk; and his oldest grandchild, Joshua Hauk.
He leaves behind a family who adored him, a business community that respected him, and many friends who will miss his presence dearly.
Memorials may be made in Jim's name to Tunnel to Towers.
