James "Jim" R. Block
March 29, 1930 — November 20, 2023
James Robert Block, of O’Fallon, MO, passed away Monday, November 20, 2023, at the age of 93. Beloved husband of the late Virginia C. Block; cherished son of the late George W. and Angeline Block. Devoted father of Dave (Carla) Block, Theresa (Bret) Tesson, Phillip (Mandy) Block, Christina (Alan) Konecnik, Rebecca (Ross) Bullington, and Dan Block; loving grandfather of Jonathan, Zachary, Lauren, Catherine, Lee, Ian, Aaron, Hannah, Rachel, Christian, Emily, Rachel, Allison, and Addie; treasured great-grandfather of Drew, Annie, Eli, Sutton, Ainsley, and Welles. Preceded in death by three brothers, George (the late Mary) Block, Tom (the late Betty) Block, Ted Block; and sister, Madeline (The late Lou) Schlicher.
Jim proudly served in the United States Marines during the Korean War. He was very dedicated to his family and faith. Jim was a handyman and enjoyed working many jobs. He also enjoyed volunteering at Incarnate Word Academy and CYC Basketball. A special memory is that Jim had an ice cream cake for every birthday. Jim was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Memorials may be made in Jim’s name to American Cancer Society.
